How do I invite new members to a Facebook group?

There are a few ways new members can be invited to join a Facebook group:
  • Invite from the group: Admins and members can invite their Facebook friends to join a group by selecting Invite from the group.
  • Invite with email: Admins can use email to invite anyone to join their group, whether or not they’re Facebook friends.
  • Invite with link (only available for private hidden groups): If the group is a private hidden group, admins and members can use a link to invite anyone to join their group, whether or not they’re Facebook friends, if the admins allow.
Once someone is invited to join a group, they'll be able to preview the group before deciding if they'd like to join the group, unless they were invited to the group by email or invited to a private hidden group with a link. If someone is previewing the group, they won't be included in the total member count.
Note: If you invite people to a group, a group admin may need to approve the request before they can join. Pages can't be invited to join groups as group members.
Admins and members can only invite a limited number of people to join each day.
Invite from the group
Admins and members can invite their Facebook friends to join a group.
  1. From your Feed, click Groups in the left menu and select your group. If you don't see Groups, click See more.
  2. Click + Invite below the cover photo.
  3. Select Invite Facebook friends.
  4. Select the names of the friends you want to invite. You can also type a friend's name in the search bar.
  5. Click Send invites.
Invite with email
Admins can invite new members to a group by email.
The email will include a link to the Facebook group, where the person can confirm that they want to join. In public groups and private visible groups, they’ll be automatically approved. In private hidden groups, they’ll have to be approved by a group admin. Only the person who received the email can join the group with that link. The link will expire after 28 days.
  1. From your Feed, click Groups in the left menu and select your group. If you don't see Groups, click See more.
  2. Click + Invite below the cover photo.
  3. Select Invite with email.
  4. Add email addresses.
  5. Click Send invite.
Invite with link (only available for private hidden groups
Admins and members can use a link to invite others to a private hidden group if the admins allow. The link can be shared on or off Facebook.
Once someone receives the invite to join the group, they’ll then have to request to join and be approved by a group admin. Any Facebook user with the link can see the group’s About info and request to join.
The link will expire after either 48 hours or 20 people click on it, whichever comes first. After the link expires, you can create a new link.
Keep in mind that people who receive the link from you might understand you're a member of this group.
  1. From your Feed, click Groups in the left menu and select your group. If you don't see Groups, click See more.
  2. Click + Invite below the cover photo.
  3. Select Invite with link.
  4. Click the link to copy it, then share it. If you want to share the link through Facebook, click Done, +Invite, then Invite with link, and select a method for sharing it on Facebook.
